CHOC Gala 2023 (featuring Earth, Wind & Fire)

PCE is always delighted to take part in the annual CHOC (Children's Hospital of Orange County) Gala! Every year this star-studded event raises millions, helping fund the hospital's work for the rest of the year. The gala includes a dinner, charity auction, and a night-capping concert. In 2023, the legendary musical group Earth, Wind & Fire took the stage, blowing the socks off of everyone in attendance.

In terms of production, the CHOC Gala represents one of our biggest efforts of the year. We really get to flex our muscles at this event. Let's start by diving into the lighting package. We hung lights throughout the venue, with the greatest concentration on the mainstage. All in all, we used MAC Allure Profile, Chauvet Color STRIKE M, Vari-Lite VL3600 Profile IP, GLP Impression X4, and Elation Platinum Beam 5R fixtures to augment Earth, Wind & Fire's incredible performance. grandMA2 and grandMA3 lighting consoles tied everything together, and four (!) Lycian 1295 ELT follow spots made sure the band stayed clearly in view.

In the event video, you'll see these lights hung all around the Stageline SAM575 Mobile Stage, which we augmented with 20.5" truss and 1-ton chain motors.

JBL VTX line array speakers and a Yamaha CL5 console provided crisp, clear audio.

For video, we used our brand new Blackmagic Ursa Broadcast G2 cameras and three ROE CB8 8.3mm LED video walls, one behind the band, and two hanging from the stage wings.

The 2023 CHOC Gala was a spectacular show, made even better by serving a worthy cause. At PCE, we cherish this sort of work, and can't wait for the next big CHOC project!
