Great Park Live Production Overview

Welcome to Great Park Live! This massive, outdoor concert venue opened its doors in Irvine in June 2024. PCE worked with our good friends at PSQ Productions to design and build this incredible event space, which will play host to countless concerts, plays, and other shows over the next few years (check out the current event schedule at greatparklive.com). The PCE team worked overtime for months to bring this project—one of the biggest in company history—to life, and we're super proud of the result.

To build Great Park Live, we used top-of-the-line production equipment across the board, starting with brand new heavy-duty XSF truss and a Steeldeck stage. Building the truss and the stage took a massive team and some major hardware, including several lifts and a giant crane.

Different events at Great Park Live will call for vastly different lighting needs, but the standard venue package includes three rows of Chauvet Maverick Storm 3 BeamWash, Vari-Lite VL3600 Profile IP, and Chauvet Color STRIKE M fixtures. Atop the separate front of house structure, two Strong Lighting Follow Spots await the venue's biggest events. Lighting designers will take control from a grandMA 3 light console.

When selecting the venue's sound system, we chose to put the brand new EAW ADAPTive Systems speakers and subs to work. This start of the art package (consisting of Anya line array speakers and Otto subwoofers) lets us electronically target the sound on a show-by-show (or even a song-by-song) basis. This lets us easily adapt Great Park Live's audio output for different kids of shows and for different audience sizes. It also allows us to limit audio dispersion to within the park's confines (gotta keep the neighbors happy!). At front of house, audio engineers will call the shots with a Yamaha QL5 audio console.

Great Park Live also comes with a robust video package. Two massive Infiled Art 7.8 video walls flank the stage. These can show pre-set video content or be used for image magnification. In the latter case, the PCE team will provide Blackmagic Ursa Broadcast G2 and Panasonic AW-UE150K UHD 4K PTZ cameras. Video pros will run the show from a room at the side of the stage with Blackmagic ATEM video switchers and PTZ controllers.

This video offers a glimpse of the massive construction effort it took to build Great Park Live, a "dry run" performance by a local band, and the inaugural DSB show at the June 14 Irvine Nights event.
