Kamasi Washington at Blue Note Los Angeles

Acclaimed jazz musician and composer Kamasi Washington did a multi-week residency at Blue Note Los Angeles from September 30 to October 12, 2025. In these shows, Kamasi and his band played a wide range of material, often shuffling their set list around until mere moments before showtime. PCE Backline supplied numerous backline items over the course of the residency, enabling this free-wheeling, spontaneous approach.

This video depicts just one night of Kamasi's run, showcasing only the backline on hand that evening. This included the Aguilar DB751 bass amp and two Aguilar DB410 bass cabs that brough the band's upright bass to life. A set of Roland BT-1 trigger pads gave the drummer the ability to incorporate a massive range of sounds into the performance. Meanwhile, numerous Latin Percussion instruments (including an LP Conga and an LP Quinto) and a box of assorted LP toys gave the percussionist even more flexibility. The performance in the video featured a Roland Fantom-G8, but other shows made use of other keyboards, including a Fender Rhodes and a Nord Stage 4.

Working with Kamasi, his band, and the Blue Note was a tremendous thrill for the PCE Backline team!
