Swae Lee at CSU Long Beach

Once again, California State University Long Beach ASI called on PCE to produce their big spring concert at the Walter Pyramid. The 2024 iteration of the event featured rapper/singer Swae Lee, as well as a boatload of PCE production.

Normally a venue for athletic events, the PCE team had to build a stage from scratch to accommodate the show. We used Steeldeck staging, 1-ton CM Lodestar Hoists, 12” tower truss (which Swae Lee would climb at one point during the show), and 20.5” general purpose truss to create a platform for the performance, hanging Martin MAC Aura PXL, Martin MAC Quantum Profile, and Chauvet Rogue Outcast 2X Wash fixtures. A lighting designer ran the show from a grandaMA2 Full-Size console, while an Ultratec Radiance Touring System helped make the lights pop.

To bring the concert audio to a raucous student body, we flew JBL VTX line array speakers from the sides of the stage, augmenting them with RCF subwoofers. Swae Lee relied on our Shure Axient wireless microphones and Shure PSM 1000 In-Ear Monitors during the performance, and audio engineers used two DiGiCo SD12 96 audio consoles (one for the monitors and one for the front of house) to conduct the show.

PCE Backline got in on the action as well, supplying Pioneer DJM-900 NSX and Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS2 mixers.

It all came together for a fantastic show that drove the students in attendance wild. Watch the video for a quick look at the action!
